Trash Enclosures

Many cities require screening of dumpsters or trash bins. Midwest Wrought Iron has manufactured trash enclosures for 15 years. Below you will find some examples of our work. We can replicate one of the designs below or create custom designs fit for your architectural and city specifications. We are experts at working with your city and waste management companies.

Customized Trash Enclosures by Midwest Wrought Iron

St. Mary’s University – South Minneapolis

“Classic wrought iron” styled trash enclosure gates for St. Mary’s University in South Minneapolis (@26th & Park). Please note the “King Kong” barrel hinges, cast steel gate rollers and custom latching hardware. Notice how the perforated metal backing darkens the interior of the enclosure while at the same time visibility is clear for security purposes. These gates were made at our Broadway Street shop and powder coated by Twin City Metal Seal (also of Minneapolis). Winter 2013.

Seward Coop asked us to upgrade the appearance of there old dumpster screen from chain link with dark green sheet metal to a look and color that matched the building design (see photos). To keep costs down we used sign board and galvanized steel instead of the aluminum storefront system used for the building. Please note the heavy barrel hinges with grease fittings and custom lockable latch. The sign board is backed by expanded metal to provide some interior protection. Fall of 2013.

St. Phillips Gardens on Concorde Ave – St. Paul, MN

One of many trash enclosures of this style we’ve done around the metro designed originally by architect Deb Bartels. The steel frame is hot dip galvanized rectangular tube and is infilled with alternating 2 X 4 and 2 X 6 composite boards. The interior of the trash enclosure has 2 X 6 treated lumber bumpers for added strength and protection against the dumpsters which it screens (see photos). The panels are painted and the boards are then shop installed before being hung in the field. Winter 2013.
