Stainless Steel Guard Rails for St. Paul, MN Museum

The Minnesota History Center is a landmark building in St. Paul, Minnesota and home to an award-winning museum. It’s also a place many families, including those with small children, come to visit. We were called in to solve a public safety problem: the only thing standing between these pint-sized visitors and a four-story drop was a railing with wide gaps. Children were actually squeezing through the bars, or “pickets,” of the railings on each of the four stories, putting them at risk of falling. The center needed a quick and discreet solution that would seamlessly blend in with the historic architecture and not disrupt the museum during business hours. Midwest Wrought Iron worked nights and weekends to install hundreds of additional stainless steel pickets to create more narrow gaps in the railings. In the end, we created a safer environment for families with a sleek, seamless solution.
